I've seen some online for $229. And those POSes aren't even worth that much imo... I'll let you know if I come across that page again :)

Lets out a big sigh...

Jason, I told you I have a header that you could use. You still want to put a turbo on your car so don't buy a new after market header. You wont see any performance out of in anyway. Plus if you do put on a turbo you will have a header laying around until you find someone to buy it off you and you'll never get what you paid for it. All you will need is to get are the gaskets. I have it whenever you want to come get it.

If you need it today call me 720-308-1794.

I will be home for a few hours, then I have to go get some 101. After that I will be home until 4 then its off to the track.

Well I am not sure what is going to happen now. I am looking at turbo kits, it just seems like a logical time to do it being as I have to replace the exhaust manifold anyway. I am going to do some calling around and get some info.

Oh yeah... any info you might have for me would be appreciated Brian. I defenetely think I want the s16g instead of the t3/t4.

I have TONS of useful info...but I don't know what you already know?

If you have any questions at all about the HRC setup I can answer them. I know I can give you a better answer than 2gnt

Well I know the HRC setup is pretty decent except for the fuel system. But really I would just be stage 1 for a while until I get some more funds together and I learn more about the car.

I was also talking to the guy at New Edge Racing and he was saying that the t3/t4 turbo can spool as quickly as the s16g with the right trim level. What's your advice as to which kit to go with? There was no question in my mind as to which kit to go with until these NER kits became available. I am also a little concerned with going with a small company because of the reliability factor. NER seems pretty strong but if they would go under and they have all these kits out there there will be no support.

So to make a long story short I am still leaning towards the HRC kit just because of its track record. And besides I would have local support in you if I were to have problems or for future upgrades. Tell me if I am making any sense here.......

Perfect sense.

I wouldn't go w/ NER! He is a VERY small company and I have yet to see one of these kits. The NER kit is the same as the star kit. Same turbo options, same intercooler options, same fuel set up, the only thing that is different is the exhaust manifold. It LOOKs nice but as far as fitting and working correctly I don’t know. I don’t know what kind of steal it is made out of either. So the NER is the same as the Star other than the exhaust system. He has been around the 2gnt scene as long as me maybe longer. He has changed his company name one time and he has had four different websites. He will open them up for awhile and then close them down. I have seen a lot of bad things said about NER along time ago. He was talking about putting together a kit at least for a year and a half. NER was going to join forces w/ turbogs.com (Wyatt L.) and come out w/ some bad ass turbo kit. Well needless to say that never happened Wyatt stopped talking to him and he still doesn't have a kit available. He is doing a group buy for his kits because he doesn't have the money to buy them all at once on his own. Which I think is illegal.

A lot of 4g63 guys/gals have negative feelings about the HRC turbos. But as far as what is available in kit form for the rs/gs HRC is the BEST option. The best way to go other than buying a kit would be to have Forward Motion or some other company make you a manifold that would fit a better turbo. The only down side is that it would be a lot more work than just buying a kit and bolting it on as well as more expensive. HRC has gone the mile and more for me as a customer. They replaced a blown DFI unit w/ no questions asked and it was my fault. They have Monday through Friday tech support. The tech support will sit on the phone w/ you until you get it worked out. I have had many conversations w/ Bill Hahn and I do believe that his turbo kit is the one to go w/ for the rs/gs eclipse.

All the kits available have problems or need to have stuff substituted to make it function better. The star manifold has been known to crack, the down pipe doesn't come w/ a flex section, the fuel pump isn’t that good if you want more than 6 psi.

The hrc kit needs a better down pipe, and a better fpr. The inline pump is really strong it's just noisy as hell. The s16g will out flow a 16g and a big 16g. The 10cm turbine housing SUCKS for low end but doesn't stop pulling on the top. The reasoning for the 10cm housing is to eliminate boost creep and it does its job. In the year that I have had it I have NEVER seen any boost creep. In a high compression motor (stock 420a) and w/ stock injectors (235cc I think) boost creep will kill your engine pretty quick.

Trust me on this one if you go turbo go w/ HRC or build your own. There’s a reason you see more HRC than anything else on 2gnt. It is the most $$$ but they have been around for along time and are a quality company.

Thank you very much for the information. I had no idea about the history of NER. More or less there is no choice in the matter, HRC is the way to go. Well as soon as I know if I am ordering the kit or not I will let you know. I will know by the end of the week....

I moved this thread over to NT talk since it is clearly heading into a "turbocharging an N/T" discussion.

Rob Spengler and I did some research into the Star kit vs the HRC kit before I ordered my kit from Hahn. It is the best kit out there for the 420a. And it's from a well known company that will be still be around if you have problems or need anything else.

So if you have any questions or problems with installing your kit, just ask Brian and me, I'm sure one of us has run into the same thing and found a way around it.

Good luck and happy boosting!

Imo, whatever you do, just stay away from the NER kits. At least for now. That guy doesn't seem very professional. I remember his post that went something like "Why does nobody buy from me?" and he was pretty much whining about it. I wouldn't buy anything from him unless I've heard much more good stuff about him. It wouldn't surprise me if he shuts his business down again.

Good luck! :)
