Well that blows.... Literally.... First run was a 13.9@106mph with 42 counts of knock from 4k up. Second run was 14.5@108mph. My 1-2 shift sucks and I'm not really happy with it. My next step is to pull the tranny out and have it rebuilt once again.
I may be out weds to finish tuning the car with the bottle. I have it tuned for 22psi so now its time to tune it with 27psi. I don't care about launching until the tranny is rebuilt "right".
Look for the raw excel files from the datalogs to be posted soon if anyone would like to see.

well my day was a little better then daves, i desided to run the geo metro, yep, all 1.0L 3cylinder, runs inorder
21.14 @ 63.4
20.78 @ 65.2
20.84 @ 64.1
20.68 @ 65.1
20.44 @ 66.1 (LOST broke out)
well if i listened to cody and dialed a 20.4 like he said i would have won because she broke out too.
SO i made it into the 3rd round eliminations with the slow geo metro who proved that cold air with a breeze will help every car. ALL RUNS WHERE STOCK
That blows Dave... I'm sorry to hear that, I was hoping you'd have a great day and hit your goal today. :)

I kinda got spooked my first run so I only went down once.
15.81 @ 87mph
I had it set to 20psi and it was driving fine on Saturday night. I didn't notice anything through first and second but when I shifted into third, something (I think fuel) went VERY bad so I just coasted the rest of the way.
I also got fed up w/ all the people at the track so I just called it a day and when home. I may be done w/ IDRC events. There are just too many little kids revving and thinking that they are Vin Diesel from F&F.

My day at IDRC sucked... it started bad and only got worse.
About 10 miles from the track the car started smoking... badly.
Pulled off, found a problem with the valve cover gasket, so I had to r&r the gasket on the side of the freeway.
Got that fixed, and went to the track.
On round one I had a serious brain fade. I pulled 10% of the fuel to make the N2o happy (worked fine on the freeway). I dialed a 2 second delay on the nitrous controller.
ooops... that means for the first 2 seconds the car was 10% too lean... seriously killed the launch.
On the way back to the pits it started smoking again.
Got it back to the pits, no "leaks"... nothing unusual. Changed plugs, and ran it up to 7k... we now have a "bug killer"
Checked the plugs... clean.
Checked the turbo, the oil seals were leaking. Not "failed", but enough to make it smoke
Oh well... the worst that can happen is that the turbo goes... so I turn off the bottle, reset the fuel and wait for round two.
On round two... the pro tree caught me by suprise... and I screwed up the launch. In retrospect, I should have just sat there until I was fully ready (since it wasn't a race).
Once I hit 3rd gear, I noticed the boost wasn't holding... goodbye turbo
Packed up and went home. On the way home, I did some testing. Under full boost, the intake plenum temps went up to 160 dg! Combine that with higher than normal o2 sensor voltages, and I have a "post turbo" intake leak too.
By 5:00 pm, the car was cool enough to pull the turbo off... so it's all boxed up and ready for a trip to the rebuilder.
When it gets back, I have to head over to envirotest.
While the turbo is out, I'll do some underhood cleanup... a LOT of oil got sprayed in there this weekend.

that sucks Hal... seems like very few people had good luck so far this month with their cars... specially not at IDRC :(

My car ran what I expected it to run,my first time run was a 13.66@99.5mph but I bogged the car on the second run and hit a lousy 14.1@98. In eliminations I was up against my friend with a turbo 4 door Integra who was very inconsistent. I red lit with a .497 light and ran a 13.65 vs his 14.2 on a 13.6 dial in.
GRRRRRRR!!! All I had to do was let the light turn a little more yellow.
Right now the car is very consistent whether it's 90 degrees out or 70. I've now run 13.6s on my last 11 of 15 full out runs. (not including slowing down for bracket wins)
My data logs showed 2 counts of knock just above 6k in 3rd and 22-24 degrees of advance all the way down the track so the car was running quite good for 16psi.
I also got one of my launches photographed so I'll have to scan it and post it. Love the AWD squat.
After I get the car back together, I'm going to bump up my timing maps.
Currently, I'm using the "stock" maps, which give me a maximum of 15 degrees under "full load".
I will do like I did with the PMS, and add timing in from 4k on up.
I've already built the maps, I just need to upload them.
I know that when I put an ITC in the car (many years ago), that mod alone was worth .4
I'm adding enough to give me 18 to 22 (depending on rpm) through out the rpm range.
I did run the car up to 8k rpms yesterday... in 3rd... 111 mph :)

The next IDRC event in September is a national points event and should showcase a lot more quicker cars including several fast DSMs including John Shepherd's.
It will also feature the Outlaw class as well as "Team" racing

Saw alot of club members up there running - man it was a hot day. My friends and I got there at about 4:30AM. Sun-burnt to a crisp. The car was running strong - 95 GS-T Big 16g at 17PSI.
14.5@101MPH 2.5 60FT
14.6@100MPH 2.7 60FT
14.7@100MPH 2.6 60FT
I think I just need to learn how to launch - I wish I had AWD. I'm trapping pretty decent though, that's the only thing im happy about. I left after the first round of elimination(the other guy broke out - dialed in at 16.9 ran a 13 or something). Overall a good day, I hope to run up again on wed. for test and tune. Hopefully I might see some of you guys up there. Is Marcus on this board? Met the infamous Hal for the first time - Hey Hal. I think I might invest in some slicks hopefully shave those horrid 60FT's to bad AWD launch style 60FT's = )

I amde it up to Banidmere around 2ish but missed everyone. I was hoping to meet Hal and Dave. I have a 95 Talon Tsi AWD. At present time it si sitting in California @ Road RAce Engineering having an operation. Needs new pistons, valave springs and partial valve train. I am having them install the DSM link while it si there and would love some help tuning the car when Iget it back (looking like Early August). The engine is fully built and I am running an XS engineering TGA w/ HKS external wastegate. I had the car up at the track last year in Sept for teh IDRC event and ran a 14.8 with a blown turbo, so I am hoping that with the right tuning and such I can get into the high 12's if not faster.
I hope to eventually meet all of you and look forward to future race events.
Nick
