I just came into a 2G exhaust Mani to put on my 93 Talon. I have a few questions for my learned colleges!!

What areas of the 2G manifold should I consider porting, Exhaust runners at the head, or the collector area, how much should be hogged out, anyone have pictures.

What type/brand exhaust mani gaskets are folks using between the head and the Mani. On old V8 header upgrades we used to put 2 gaskets in. It seemed to keep them from burning out and leaking, any of you folks ever tried that.

The gasket between the mani and the turbo, is that the metal gasket, if so, should it be replaced or reused… silly question, where can I get a good one.

Which is the larger hole, the exhaust port on the head or the runner port on the manifold. I assume I should try to port to the larger hole.

Thanks in advance...

Critical gaskets (head, intake & exh manifold) are best obtained from Mitsu.

There is a vfaq someplace on porting the manifold, as well as the tricks needed to make it fit a 1g.

call RRE, they have no problems amswering tech questions if you can't find the vfaq.

and like hal said, use the mitsu gastkets.

thanks for the tips gentleman. found the vfaq and will use Mitsu gaskets.... but.....

regarding the gaskets,

the VFAQ says to port the manifold using the stock 1G composite gasket as a templete, not the stainless one.

I'm ok with that, but when I buy a new gasket, should I buy a 1G or a 2G, and is it the 2G one that is stainless. Or is the stainless one, a replacement for eather/both G's

confused ?? not me, it's clear as mud

I'd like to use the stainless flavor, I assume it will seal well and not burn out or leak

thanks agaiin
