Oke... thought I had a spun bearing... now that we looked at everything I have a tapping sound... in the valve cover it sounds like... it follows the rev up... however it doesnt follow it down... it will flutter a bit... and also it sometimes stops on the up rev... sometimes flutters aroudn 2100 is the point it changes if its going to... compression checks out at 125 125 125 130.... we changed out 10 of the 16 lash adjusters today along with 3 rocker arms that had some play it seemed... no scoring on valve cover... cams all mic'd out tommorow the rest of the lash adjusters and rockers are being replaced... might as well since i got only 6 more to go... and 13 cheapy rocker arms... soundsi ke its coming from above #2 and half and half more or less on 1 and 3 (each side closest to #2 on each of those... any suggestions as to the noise? any previous expereinces? if tommorow doesnt fix it... head work will be done... ohhh and noise is ONLY once its running, not on cranking....

if someone knows the problem... they will be god to atleast 1 person in this lifetime....

If replacing the other lifters doesn't do it, it is most likely some carbon in the cylinders. No shit.

If the lifters don't solve it, I'll bet we can make it go away for just a few bucks, hehe. It works everytime! You buy the stuff and I'll make the tick go away.

It could be an exhaust leak too.

hmmmm you meaning the MCCC or whatever "stuff"? if so great, and unless you mean exhaust leak as in like the exhaust is mysteriously freezing on its way out the leak and banging against somit under the hood... then thats a no :P I have an exhaust leak yes, but this is DEFINATELY a tapping on somit mechanical... :( you can feel it on the valve cover if you put your hand on it...

hmmm if its carbon I'll be upset that I spent $400 and then a $8 or whatever bottle of cleaner solves it :P

btw... this is no 'tick' its rather noisy

Yep, Auto Trans fluid and water.

OK, I'm done.

FWIW, my method works and has worked on every vehicle I've ever owned since I was sixteen.
If you can't get the tick fixed after you've spend a bunch of money, then maybe you'll see the light. :)

But you don't even know what the tick is, so it's a moot point...

heh, yes, so how do you apply the ATF and water? and its not just me not knowing.... Dave is perplexed too, he stopped by yesterday and helped us out for a good while... I'm willing to try the ATF/water if given propper application of it... or if you want to show me and are near Auroa/Denver and have time af ter 12 to do it... I have an appointment at 11a on base then I'll be going back to Mark's to work on the car s'more...
