Last Sunday I installed my Walbro fuel pump and it's been fine till today and then I started blowing the 30A fuse that's run off the battery that we put on with the rewire. What could be causing this? Could it be the pump itself?

You have a short in the wire someplace.

The most common thing is a relay contact touching the chassis.

Thanks Hal,I'll check out everything. Could it also be a connection right on the relay, maybe some wire exposed or crimped could cause it?

Another quick question on the ground wires. On the relay terminal #85 is the ground. Do I run a wire from this to the chassis? At the moment I have the ground from the new upgraded wire and the ground from the pump going to terminal #85. I don't have the relay grounded to the chassis. Is that my problem?

I think the problem was a bad pump right out of the box. I put the stock one back in and it's running fine now.
I guess I'll order a Nippendenso next week.

At least I won't be missing the Club Clash tonite.:)

what about the gauge of wire you used?
I'm not sure what's involved with your dsm "pump re-wire" though.

I ran 12 guage Monster Cable and it apears it was the pump.

I did run a new 1/4 mile at 17psi at the CC tonite with a 13.54@99.36mph.

There actually were quite a few DSMs out there tonite but only three were running with HAI. We had a good showing as two thirds of our club went three rounds and 7 other members went past four rounds. I lost in the fourth with a breakout, that's how I set my new 1/4 mile time.

I'd try another Walbro if I were you. What are the flow rates of the 2 pumps (walbro vs denso)?

When you pulled the pump out, did you see anything on the bracket, such as marks from arcing? I recall a few yrs ago a CoDSM guy pulled his pump back out after it was acting up, and that's what he found. Imagine that - arcing IN the fuel tank. Talk about a volatile situation!!

When you put the stock pump back in, did you revert to the stock wiring setup? That may be a clue...

Actually the pump from Extreme is a Walbro (I'll be getting it next week sometime) and when I put the stock pump back in I used the rewire to be sure that wasn't a problem.
