heres an idea that john and i were brainstorming about today. a turbo sizing guide. the supra guys have a website that lists out all the turbo options for the car. compressor wheel options, turbine housings, amount of air flowed at what psi.....everything.

so why don't we do the same thing for DSMs? there is no site or page, every newbie wants to know what each turbo can do for their car, even with all the new turbos being released the vets can't keep up. so we start with the basics, 14b and t-25. list all the specs and what variants can be done to them, and go from there. we could poll and grab info from the guys that use them, log them, dyno them and add this to a working master list. by the time we get done we would have a list for all DSMers to use when looking to upgrade.

thoughts? suggestions? wanna help me?

heres the link to the supra page to get an idea of what i'm talking about incase i lost you.

this is what i can contribute: haha, not much but a start

I heard about the t 25 only being good for max of 250 hp, the 14b up to 300, the 16 up to 325, B16 350ish (ive heard up to 385hp on that), 18g around 400, 20g up to 450, so on and so forth....

i think the flowrates (off the top of my head)
t 25: == 285 -
14b: == 405 - karman wise i saw up to 2150 at 18psi
16g: == 505 -
b16g: == 550 - karman of up to 2300 on this one at 14psi
18g: == 585 -
20g: == 630 -
green: = 730 -

from what i have seen, the turbo's feel hella different from eachother when in the awd vs fwd... my car with a 14b was walking at 18g'ed awd.... not much chance for driver error on a 60mph roll.

There are a few new "lists" that basically give the ET, the mph AND what turbo was run.

http://www.dsmtimes.org/index.htm

And also at DSMtalk in the Racing Forum, there are a couple of lists.

I think cfm is a poor way to do comparisons. Lbs/min is better, but MPH and proven timeslips are even better.

The only thing about MPH is the car's weight, hehe. There are more than a few guys racing with no seats, no bumpers, etc. Weight would be the best "other detail" to know in these lists.

A comprehensive list, with real world data to back up the turbos (dyno sheets, timeslips, etc) sure would be nice.

The URL which Art listed is sort of the supra turbo bible which most of us use when doing comparisons, power shopping etc.

Just DO IT! :)

hidden in a dusty cellar of the dsm.org archives. i found an old comparison chart. it only goes over 16g, b16g, 20g (tdo5), and a couple franks.

but the stuff is pouring in.

obviously this will be pretty indepth. it we could get compressor maps, flow charts, and obviouly the mods that went into how the car got those numbers, this will be a big list. but i think it will be helpful in the long run.

I tihnk those CFM rates were ab it low in the last post I can almost swear somewhere on dsmtalk there's a list that does t25 14b 16g b16g 18g and 20g and the 16g I was thinking was ~600 and the b16 was 50 more.... <- not worth the money imo but if I find it I'll certainly post it :)
