well i finally got around to getting rid of the stock intake pipe. so i went over to Dejon Tools. $150 for a 3" intake isn't bad considering the Injen i had on the old car cost nearly the same for a 2.5". well 3 days after i ordered it, it arrived. almost as fast as ordering from RRE. so Dejon gets props for fast service.

so the quick 5 min. install was just that, fast. everything fit up just right. i had known i was gonna get this intake for sometime, so i already had a 3"-2" ABS coupler so it would mount up to the T-25. well i went out to see what kind of difference it would make. i didn't feel anything in the "butt-o-meter", but the guages sure showed the difference. the car was tuned for .96v in 3rd gear pulls. after 3 pulls each on was .99v. so i was definetly geting more air into the system. :). so after 15 minutes of retuning i got her back down to .96v. :).

SIR, the drag strip in Tuscon holds TnT every friday evening. so after the new clutch is broken in, i'll have to make a pass with the stocker, then the Dejon to see what the real gains are. so more to follow.

The $10 3" abs intake like I have was dyno'd and showed a 12 hp gain over the stock accordian pos intake.

i actually tryed that on my old DSM. it worked well, but it looked like ass. my glueing skill have fallin off since kindergarden.:p so i ended up getting the Injen pipe, cause it looked pretty.:p . i know, i know. i learned all teh wrong things to buy the first time. so i'm gonna do it right this time.

ummmmm i think you have your understanding of the o2' wrong, the lower the number the leaner you are... there for you actually where getting less air at more gas after the install i would just recomend tuning because you are running richer, after leaning out the butt o meter should show somthing.

i wrote up a review on dsmtalk about the dejon tool stuff, i have the intake, upper and lower ic pipes, and they all work well. Vern had a chance to see em when i was at his house earlier this week.

Yeah I liked the dejon set-up. I also think they make quality stuff, I've only heard maybe one negative comment about them.

James,
When the MAS senses more air it'll up the fuel some. Almost every time I've increased the engine's breathing capability, the O2 volts have gone up a little bit for the same boost psi. Remember we have a mass air sensor, any increase in overall flow will result in more air mass.

Throw in the fact that the s-afc is a 1-D device, while your MAS is a 3-D device (Temp, Press, and Hz) and you can get some interesting results at times.

ie: You increase the airflow thru the engine, by say 100Hz at the mas.
We had our s-afc adding +12% to 2153 Hz, at say 5000 rpm and 18psi of boost, and we always got .90v at our O2 sensor before. Pretty well tuned...

Now we add a mod that allows 100Hz more airflow, thru the engine, to that 2153Hz and then add the same 12%. We were at a s-afc modified 2411Hz. Now with a minor 100Hz addition we are up at 2523Hz. The difference within the ecu's 3-D fuel maps almost always seems to end up adding more fuel to the mix. ;)

I have the Dejon intake with the air bypass but can't use it till I have the 550s installed. I really like it and it looks good plus my Karmen readings went up from 2100 up to just over 2300hz.

As soon as I get the injectors in I'll give you guys a review of the airbypass inlet and see how it hard it is to tune the unmetered air.

the pics on the site look very nice. especially the bright orange pipes. but i already had gloss black HRC u/ic pipes, i just went with the gloss black dejon.

not to come off like an asshole, but reread my first post james. i was lean. then i went rich. why, i went from a POS 2.25" intake to a 3" intake......increased air flow.....i think so.

Thanks for the info Mark.
Any type of this info should be shared even if you're making a buck if it's saving your fellow DSMs guys (and gals) some $$$.
I don't think Dave cares about a little advertising since it doesn't comnflict with any of his interests.
