Has anyone ever just gotten rid of this so called spoiler at the base of the rear window or know of something aftermarket to replace it with something better. I am putting on an Aerospeed alum. wing but would like to get that stock thing off of there. What is under there that I would need to take care of besides the rear wiper blade. Acckkkk! Please help. No real big deal if I can't do it.

It is an Aerospeed aluminum Gen-II GT4 wing from Speed and Style that will be painted to match the car and graphics for show purposes only. Easily removable leaving only 4 small mounts on the deck. Thanks for the input though.

If you take the stock spoiler off then you may need to buff it, or it may need to be repainted depending on what condition it's in. I believe there's just double sided tape (or Velcro) holding it on, at least that's what a body shop told me when I had a '95 Talon repainted.

Hey, Thanks. I'll talk to the body shop about it this morning before they replace it and paint it. Hope I didn't offend any of nostalgia people that like it just the way it is. I used to be that way 'till I started hitting car shows. I appreciate the input. Did you have yours removed?

Naw, i'm not offended. I just prefer the stock look. Brian had a hugeass wing on his 2G and people kept trying to race him, talk shit, etc... It wasnt worth the hassle and he took it off.

Yep ripped that POS right off. I got a lot of crap from a lot of different cars. I would get mini vans riding me. I can and will put my car to the max on the street but I don’t like to all that often. W/ the wing I had to do that a lot more. It looked cool off the car but once I put it on I was like "hell no". I kept it on for all of about 2 months. Right now I don’t have a wing at all and I think it looks bad ass w/o a wing. But I am going to put the stock one back on in a few days or so. Those wings sit very high on our cars.
Oh and they produce a ton of drag to.
Good luck

Well, Someday you'll see it or at least a picture of the car with it. I think I'm gonna keep the stock one on and put the wing behind it and remove it when not in shows or don't want to be hassled by retards and wannabe's. It may or may not look cool. My buddy talked me into it. He has a 3000GT SL and a 3000GT VR4 all tricked out for show. Big ass wings, neon lights, graphics, etc. It only cost me $186.00 plus paint so what the hell.
PS. Duly noted on the drag theory. Thanks. :(

It was only removed, along with all the moldings, to repaint the body, then it was put back on. We are some of the few that prefer the 95-96 Talon and Eclipse spoilers. :) We think they keep the low sleek look intact versus the ricer wings and also the 97-99 spoilers. We agree with Brian that 2Gs look sweet without any spoiler if they are lowered.

The stock one is staying on. I dislike the '97 stock spoilers also but love the front bumper. My 2g is lowered also. I can take a hint so if I ever meet or see you guys I'll be sure the ricer wing is off. hehe. It will be at the Import Expo on 8/31. White with blue and silver graphics and a blue, white and silver Yamaha sport bike next to it. If you guys are getting together sometime let me know.
Alan.

I removed my rear '95 spoiler in my efforts to convert my '95 over to a full '97-'98 Talon bodystyle.
Don't sweat it! It's rather easy, although there wasn't any velcro on mine:( Be prepared because there is a big hole approx 1.25"-1.50" on the drivers side where the wiring comes up through the rear hatch lid. It will need to be plugged, covered, or filled in a manner of your choice or water will leak into your trunk.
Also the paint under the old spoiler will drastically be a different color for a month or two (sun will fade it to match eventually, espically if you don't wax this area). otherwise it's a cake job.

Well, I kept the 95 spoiler on. Got the thing painted all white. Put on a 97 front bumper and a blue & silver graphics kit from Modern Image. I am extatic. It looks awesome. Thanks for all your input.
