I had trouble shifting (more on that to come), but I stuck to my
game plan.

The first pass was 28/29 psi, test pipe, 7cm housing and it did spool up better.

Next I turned the boost down to 24, and added timing. The car REALLY woke up.

I spent the rest of the night adjusting the fuel ratio and timing curve to get 22 (or more) degrees of timing instead of the 14 I was seeing before.

Because of the shift problems, all of my runs stunk, and I had to resort to using 1/8 trap & ET's for comparison purposes.

By the end of the night I had picked another 3 mph in the 1/8th... still 4 mph short of last year... but still making progress.

Next week... start dialing the boost back in.

On the last pass of the night, the 3-4 shift resulted in no gears.

After turning off the track, I had gears, wtf?

Got it home... broken shifter cable.

Ooh man when I read that first part I figured a broken shift rail end, ala me. I'm glad it wasn't anything worse Hal. I'd like to see you be where you wanna be by season's end.

The Red has that 60-trim wheel, it moves bunches of air at decent pressure ratios, but the compressor map says that it loses efficiency quickly up at the higfher pressure ratios like 28-29 psi.
It sounds like you found a real nice, efficient spot to play in Hal.:p

Glad to hear some positive came out of a "bad" night.

Anyone have a compressor map for a Red?

The too small nature of the 7cm housing also starts to become more apearant at higher PSI. I'm not sure what psi it is, but the higher you go you'll start to see diminishing returns.

You can't get it in if you can't get it out.

Well, the 7cm Red has been proven to well over 124 mph.

Yep Hal is right.

What the 7cm turbine side does, is place more of the opportunity to run a 124 mph 1/4 in the normal rpm band, hehe. I think that the gains seen by using the 8cm side would be best utilized if you wanted to run with Shep. ;)

IMHO, us guys that just want a nice fast "street" car are better served by the 7cm housing.

You headed to Bandi Wed. Hal? Right now, I'm planning on being there and running. It's supposed to be a bit cooler too. ;) :D

Right now, it looks like I'll have to pass this wednesday.

I *may* try for Friday.

Ok... so no friday... I guess I'll have to try for this wednesday.

I'll try using the bottle to spool it up.

If I can't cut a good 11 second pass before the IDRC races... I'm not going to enter... why waste the time & money if I can't compete.
