**** ATTENTION ****

Heads up to any one with an Auto tranny. First, it is not a downfall if you read on. You'll be able to compete with the manual guys and have more consistent runs. If you are thinking of increasing horsepower to your DSM or have already, the stock Auto transmission and cooler "WILL NOT" handle it. I learned the hard way by paying $2600.00 to rebuild it right after installing the 16G, manifold, fuel pump, injectors, etc. And I only have approx. 285hp at the flywheel. Bearings in there went bad they have never seen go bad before. I found the fix, but first the car only has 1200 miles on the rebuild and already the cluthes are burning up. So if you have done any mods or are planning to then visit www.levelten.com first then call them and talk to Sam. Tell him Alan McCumber referred you. It won't be cheap but will save you in the long run for sure. You'll need a PTS kit, Valve body recalibration and shift kit, PTS torque converter, and after market tranny cooler along with synthetic fluid. This will give you a tranny capable of 650 lb/ft of torque and support 750hp. Mine is being done as I write this letter. Hi-Lo transmission on Iliff next to Import Sports Performance is doing the removal and installation for me.

Any questions/comments?

we have the same mods on out automatic, but we are also putting on Nitrous..... what were the first signs of a failing transmision??? and did you powerbrake at the track???

I never did anything at the track. I did a little power braking on the street though. I am sure that did not help. I know what that does now also. There were no signs of it failing just one day it stopped engaging gears. Everything was like neutral. Let me know how your tranny handles the nos.

well since you say there where no signs, we are going to put on a transmision cooler, and change out the fluid first ... so that should help prolong its life :)

According to Level 10 get as big of one you can and run it straight to the tranny then back to the cooler unlike some that go through the radiator and stuff. It's more efficient. Use synthetic fluid. That will definitely help. Heat is what kills trannies. Good luck.

Also just getting the valve body recal. and shift kit will help immensely since you do not have to pull the tranny for that you could do that next. Then it won't slip so much. Look at the website.
