All,
I know most if not all of you have manual trans but you may be able to help anyway. See below. I still do not know why I am not getting the 2800 to 3200 stall everybody claims. Level 10 couldn't
even tell me. They did everything they could. Could it be that my car is just not putting out enough torque at the flywheel. I have 181.46 lb/ft at the wheels at 3400 rpm which is just about
where my turbo kicks in otherwise I have no launch capabilities for IDRC this Sunday.
Thanks, Alan.

That sound is normal. You might want to check your fluid level though. I think you're supposed to get the level to the point the sound stops being a hissing sound and just starts being a
gurgling sound or a stuttering/hissing sound. Hard to describe. :-)

Urgent help needed. I got all the mods from Level 10. The PTS, Valve
Body and Torque Converter. Hi-Lo Trans in Denver installed it all. I
am only getting a 2100 rpm stall. They promised like everyone else
I'd get around 3000 +or- 200. Also, there is a lot of noise like air
pockets in the converter and the dip stick tube has vaccum suction.
Any ideas? Want to race it Sunday IDRC. Please help ASAP.
Thanks, Alan.

I thought that even with a higher stall rpm like 3000 it will still start to engage before than like 2500 or so, but you should be able to power-break it up to 3500 rpm or so....
I dont know what the stock stall speed is but I can power-brake my brothers Talon up to 3000 rpm with full boost at part throttle and hold the car still, I had a 2.0 60ft but mostly 2.1's....
If the car drives on the street fine and doesnt feel like its slipping or not working right then I would guess that there is nothing wrong.... but its not my car, so if you think there is something wrong than dont race it
by the way we will be at Bandimere sunday if you go, my brother just put in his 16G, and transmission cooler(thanks for the suggestion) so we'll see how the tranny holds up on Sunday, I dont foresee any possible problems

Other than not getting the stall speed I wanted the tranny is working fine. Shifts good and has more power and it is stronger. So I will be at the race Sunday just won't have launch capabilities yet. Will work out the converter problem next week. I have a white Talon with a blue and silver graphics kit and wing. It's a 95 with a 97 front clip. If you see me introduce yourself. Hope to see you there.

I didnt read your message in time to read your car description.... o well, we up there with a 93 Talon TSI Black.
We definantly needed a tranny cooler, we bought one and it wasnt big enough to work good so we had to by a really big one... its like 1.5 x 12 x 9 inched with a high flow fan. It was working alright but we definantley need a higher stall converter.
The best run was a 2.2 15.7 @ 77 mph
and the best 60ft I got was 2.167 15.9 @ 85 mph (left car if LOW and hit revlimiter 4 times before I relized it wasnt in Drive.... it has a nice popping sound when it cuts the fuel :D)
I was having a hard time spooling the turbo at the line, didnt relize the 16g was that laggy compared to the 13g

What are you using for a rev limiter?
Sorry I missed ya. I wasn't running good at all. Too much boost and no launch.

Not using anything, just the way the car came.... its wierd too, when the car is in drive and your flooring it, it will hit hit the rev limiter on its own before it finally shifts into second

Well, you ran better than me. A-T DSM is a lot of help. I may have an intake leak, my torque converter bolts are probably loose and I just found an exhaust leak at the cat and downpipe. My car is too low and I always hit that cat. I'm going to put in a straight pipe. If that don't work I'll have to get taller springs. That'll suck removal, installation and realignment.
Where do you live? I'm in Aurora. Maybe we could hook up some time and check out each other car. If you want to.

Well I'm in FortCollins most the time, except weekends I'm in Littleton working nights... and just for clarification its my brothers car, but I like all the technical stuff (plus I really like to race it)
I love chatting about cars, anytime but weekends are best....
my brothers car has no cat at the time being just a straight pipe, and man did it change the exhaust note

My prayers have been answered. I did have exhaust leaks at both ends of the down pipe but that didn't help. I knew I had an intake leak at the BOV flange which I thought I fixed but it wasn't.
I gooped it up with a bunch of blue RTV silicone and played with the 1k and 2k AFC settings. They were to lean. Also my vacuum line to the FPR was not hooked up. Now I can stall to 3k with almost 10PSI boost or more and the car in general just flies comparatively. :)) Hope this helps someone else in the future.
Thank you all for your help.
Sincerely, Alan.
