Well after a couple previous dismal trips to the track we finally got both cars a little closer to where they should be. A couple weeks ago we could only muster mid-high 16s from the Spyder and mid-high 17s from the n/t. We got 7 runs each last night after getting there at approximately 8pm and start racing at close to 9pm, left at 11ish. It was nice and cool (maybe lower 60s) and not TOO humid, in other words perfect racing weather! :)

It was a fun night and Jenni and I got to race against each other on runs # 2, 3, 6, and 7. Jenni has greatly improved in the 3 trips to the track since we moved. She has dropped the Spyder's et almost a full second and the upped the mph almost +10! For the first time ever I actually tried for good reaction times and I like what I got. :) Keep in mind that these times are with 18" wheels and 40 series tires (tire pressure at 31 psi on both), so both cars can definately be a little quicker with a better wheel/tire combo.
Today is the local Sport Compact/Import shootout and Jenni will be bracket racing the Spyder, I might try to see what the '90 Talon will do, so I guess we'll see................... ;)

Yesterday was great in that Jenni got a new best of 15.5. She ended up not bracket racing as the import "scene" just got too unbearable to be around, and we left somewhat early. I took the '90 Talon there but did not race as I still haven't figured out why the tach isn't working. :( I did end up driving Benji's GSX as he was still learning to drive it and he wanted to see what the car could do. His first run was a 17.5, then a low 16, then a high 15, then a 15.4. He's definately improving with every trip down the track though! :) I jump in the car and get a 15.1 with a very bad launch, then a 15.0 and still bogged the launch, then I get a good launch (1.9 60') and net a 14.5 at 90 mph. With a better hole shot (I used to get 1.7s out of that car) it could have been better. That was our first experience with a pro tree and it definately takes some getting used to! We were all trying for the "street 4 cylinder forced induction" class (their classes are a little screwed up compared to IDRC) and the last car to make the 8-car field was a 14.3. So Benji's GSX was close and it's basically stock!
It was basically a "rice fest" all day and everyone was trying to be Vin Diesel, we all were embarrassed and wanted to puke, plus most of the ricers had no respect for the 10 mph limit in the pits among most every other track rules. The funniest thing that happened was when a ricer in a Spyder GS lost to Jenni in our Spyder GST, then he proceeded to get pissed and cut through the grass instead of heading down the return lane. The guy that hands out the time slips told Jenni that the kid said it's unfair because she has a turbo! He also flipped Jenni off just before he cut through the grass, he must have stayed on the throttle while she was braking. Before the race he had asked Jenni if our Spyder was a turbo, then asked her if it was SOHC or DOHC. Jenni said "duh all turbos have DOHC", well he didn't like that and told her that he had the "fastest convertible" in his hometown. Later we had a friend go up to this kid and tell him that he lost to a girl, then this kid's own friends started making fun of him! :D Silly ricers will never learn!

Edit: Oh yeah, I was pissed that they allowed slicks in the "street" classes. I don't mind DOT approved drag radials such as the Nittos, Toyos, or BF Goodrich's, but there were some cars that had full slicks in the street classes. Maybe i'm biased, but that just shouldn't be! The car that won the "street 4 cylinder forced induction" class was a Ford Merkur with full slicks, sure that car was damn impressive running 12.6s all day long but it should have been in the "comp 4 forced induction" class (their version of the "Quick" class). Another impressive vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma with a supercharger, it was keeping up with a couple Supras in the "street 6 forced induction" class, but it was on full slicks too.
