I am planning on rebuilding my car's factory (tired) engine this winter. I was planing on doing this for some time now, but this emmitions test proves that I can not postpone this any longer if I want to continue to drive the way I do and race on the weekends.
So If you were to rebuild the internals of your engine, what parts and brands would you pick for a daily driven screamer with similar upgrades that I've done??

My car's modds are similar to this older list posted on this web site below.

If you get rid of the 18g then I'll be one of the very few in Denver to be running one but I think you should run the hell out of the 18g and see if you can get an 11.

The 18g makes serious hot air... so I wouldn't keep it if you are really looking to go "fast".

The F/P Green is an excellent choice.

The F/P Red takes some serious effort to get it working right... and we still have some things to try. Our next item to try is an unclipped turbine wheel.

As far as internals go... Ross pistons, Crower or Eagle rods... maybe a 4g64 stroker crank, etc.

Go with the stroker, it's basically the same price as a typical JE< Eagle rebuild and you can get the 4G64 crank relatively cheap.

With a stroker you can run as big as you'd like turbo wise on the street and still maintain drivability.

By the way, Hal, my turbo uses an unclipped wheel!

Yea... I know it's unclipped and you can see the dramatic difference in spool between your logs and mine.

There are issues with the 7cm getting compressor surge when using an unclipped wheel, but I doubt that will be a problem in our applications.

Greg,

Is your motor a 6 or 7 bolt, and where did you find a crankshaft for it?

Did you use "normal" 4g63 rods and custom pistons or custom rods?

It's a 7-bolt, I got the crankshaft from a mitsubishi junk yard in Arkansas, and got it cleaned up by the machine shop.
I have stock length eagle rods and custom JE pistons. It took JE three tries to make the right piston, but they finally got it right. I hear that JE, Weisco and a few others are actually stocking the pistons and their is an actual part #.

Hey Dave! Nice pic! That reminds me that I took pictures of my parts before they were installed too. I went with JE pistons and rings, Eagle rods, and ARP studs.

My pics are on 35mm film, so I'll get them developed this weekend and scan them. :)
