Ok guys and gals...2nd Creek is on!
Between xmas and new years we get free track time. Kinda their way of saying thank you for supporting them all year long. It's also a great way to introduce people to 2nd Creek in a fun, cheap way in hopes you'll come back and pay to run on the track during the summer. I'm asking all DSM's to come play, including the 3kgt club. The lotus club will also be there to take our punishment on the track.HAHA! I'm getting together a bunch of people to come out on either Saturday or Sunday following Christmas. Again, it's free to run, free to spectate, and free to make fun of others. LOL (poke, poke) Bring a helmut, you must have one to run. Do yourself a favor and at the very least, bleed your brakes with some quality fluid! ie. motul-600, Superblue, or the Porterfield.
Anyone interested?

if I can get my rear wheels to stop 'shifting' (for lack of better term) I'm willing to run some twistys... waiting on a friend to find his tie rod seperator so I can pop my front tie rods off and replace, and then I need to see if Firestone can get the rear end right... on corners it feels like they shift with the weight of the car... but once it shifts for the rest of that corner you got good traction.... just if you dont know its gonna happen... it can scare ya.... sooooooooooo barring that and my gf wont mind watching me make an ass of myself on the track... I'm game :D

Where do you get this fluid you are speaking of and do you recommend just bleeding the brakes with it or actually do a full system flush and replacing the DOT3?

Is there a shop that can do a complete system flush that has this higher quality fluid?

--Alan.

Your local track idiot, 1st timer and inviter of the Lotus club to get whooped up on by the experienced DSMers like Erron. :)

Most motorcycle shops or Autosport Werks for the superblue or motul 600. The motul is far the best, but pricey. You really want to just flush the system, or bleed them through so the fluid is down at the caliper where you need it. If the fluid is more than a few days old, it has water in it, so i reccommend doing it the day before if possible. We sometimes bleed them there as well, through the course of the day. I usually can boil the motul in about 6 laps.
:D
We'll have a ton of fun for sure!

It's at 88th and Buckley. Take Tower north to 88th and go west about a half mile, you CAN'T miss it. Here's a ton more info.

Whoops, the Boulder area? Ok, down 36 to Churchranch rd/104th. Take 104th east to Tower. South on Tower to 88th. West on 88th a half mile.
Sorry...

I am interested depending on how my car is acting...

Will there be a time for first timers to run, so they don't hold up the better drivers?

I have a basically stock suspensioned car and I don't think I will be doing very well, considering I'm an inexperienced driver.

I would love to go down and learn a few things from the pros!

They usually do a slower/faster group. With the track being so big, if you start a half lap down to someone, it takes many laps to catch them just once, or vice versa.

Sounds like a good time, what all helmets are allowed? I have a motocross helmet and that is it...It is full face and everything.

Also, for a new driver w/ a stock Talon do you have any tips? I would love to learn about this and get into it more.

Thanks

I believe that helmut will work.
First, ride with someone and get a feel for the track. Have them show you the line, it will help. There are a couple of corners that don't show their correct apex unless someone shows you. Other than that, be considerate on the track. On test days, there is no passing on the deep corners and wave all passes by. You'll do this a lot during your cooling laps. Just point out the window to show which side you want them to pass on, slow down a bit, and STAY to the side your on. Don't wave someone on the inside, then cut in for the corner. In now 6 years, there have been ZERO fender benders with another car. Lots go off, but don't hit others. It's a nice way to play on a field that has no speed limits.
It'll hit you once your on the track to really feel what it's like to have the only limit being yourself. Stay within your own limits or your cars limits and you should have a fun day.

Sorry to be posting so much, but would Saturday or Sunday be better for a novice to come in? I don't want to hold too many people up...
I may not even get to go...my car won't go above 4000rpms without stumbling and studdering :(

Doesn't matter really. Friday usually has less people. I use the day for tuning mostly because there is less traffic.

Hey Erron, I PMed you about this but thought I would post as well. My brother in law was wondering if he could come run, he has a 2003 RSX-s. I know he is not affiliated with any club or anything but I just thought I would ask. Thanks

Unfortunatly, due to insurance purposes, only dsm members are covered through us. He can come out and talk with Bob or call the track and see what he says.

Well I was never able to get the last bit of work done on my car... plus got a tire slashed by something on the road the other day.... sooooo no go for me :( Although my GF might ahve enjoyed that... maybe we can make a trip out there atleast.... *prays*

and track prolly wont be too fun with an car that sometimes decides it almost wants to die out in gear at idle.... or miss/backfire under load.... but only *sometimes* GRRRRRR

Oh sure i will, maybe!:D

It went a little something like this.....
Enter track from pit lane, Mr. Zulu, please engage the warp core. Turn off warp core and fire retro thrusters, then turn. Repeat 16 times per lap! HAHAHAHA!! That was a lot fun!

By the end of the day the trophies were handed out.

Slick Tire class:
Jake L.---1.16.50-1st
Doug H.---1.19.xx-2nd

Street Tire class:
Me---1.18.81--1st
Mike B.--1.22.68--2nd

Turned out to be a good day. You have got to see the video of me chasing down the red supra. I hit 125 in the back esses and half a lap later i was around, it rocked. I must have gotten in 150 laps over the last 3 days.

What a great time!!

Hell yeah, that was a BLAST!! I love that feeling when you are trying to chase down a car on the track. You sorta forget about everything else and just concentrate on the road and the car ahead of you. Anyway thanks for inviting us out there Erron, you will definetely be seeing me out there more often.

I didn't care for running the track backwards... it made all of the turns "downhill"... plus I couldn't floor it down the back straight as much as I wanted to because of the "s" turn being at the end.

The car, for sure, is NOT set up for the twisties... it's a "get the front end light" and go straight car.

Woohoo that was a blast. I finally said screw it and lets take the car out. Amazingly the stock brakes were handling 5 hard laps w/o any fading *scratches his head*. The red was pretty responsive in the S turns but the second you get out of a hair pin its sorta laggy. I think the vettes were wondering where I went  . It was soo tempting to turn the boost up higher than 16 to get it a bit sideways but I said.... No lets leave it and prevent it from over heating. No spilled fluids came outta my car WOOHOO.

But I will say my brakes are officially toast. I think the last lap I did was a little too much for em. I got the car up to about 120 in the back stretch and slammed them at the last minute. The cockpit filled up with lots of smoke from that one. Tires held up good (NT 450's) but they corner like shit.

So yes I will admit. My car is a straight line car.... Not a road course car ;)

Don't you mean a daily driver with the interior still in it? :p (poke, poke)hehe
Yeah, it kinda takes a special breed to maintain that kind of speed for so long. It's taken me years of track events to feel comfortable at 80 on the slip angle of the tires, then exit the corner to blast up to 130, then slow back down to do it all over again. I only went off the track twice this weekend. One was well over 60 mph. I was just glad to keep it painted side up. hehe!

Its still lots of fun beating on the vettes on the str8's and esp the bmw that was out early in the morning. I'd loose him in the turns and ride his ass in the str8's.

Yeah but since I was braking early there is only one good part where you hear the car. Plus all the cars that sounded like weedwakers on steriods were out at the same time too....
