1. Will any Turbo 95 EProm ECU work? AWD? FWD? Etc...
2. Is the only way to tell if it's an EProm ECU to look for the little E all alone in the lower right hand corner of the sticker, or is there a specific part number or sequence that would contain the EProm?
3. How much should I pay for the EProm ECU?
thanks all...
AWD/FWD doesn't matter.
The "E" is the only designation, and if at all possible... you should open it and visually confirm it's truely an eeprom ecu.
I paid $150 for mine.

Thread ressurected! I just received my 95 TSI AWD ECU and the only place I see an "E" on it is "ELC63DMFNASK3" and "G1T16371E". Is that right?

should be three lines of letter and numbers. The E is in the lower right hand side of the sticker.
Open it up. It is only 4 phillips screws. Look for a little block chip/box soldered in.

I have the letter E as the last letter in the 3rd line, 3rd being the bottom line! I am so stupid I stripped one of the phillip screws, so I can only take out 3 screws. But I got a peek under there and all the block chips look the same to me, I don't know what I'm looking for. I hope I got the right one.

Check this site out http://www.tmo.com/howto/ecu2g/checkeprom.htm
if you look at the picture what is circled in red my numbers and letters don't start with an "E" it starts with an "M"! Man I think I got ripped off, he said it was from a 95 Talon TSI AWD!

If i remember, all 95's were eproms. The last letter in the third line should be an E. That I believe stands for eprom.
Steve

Looks like thats a non Eprom.
Do you know who owned it before you? I remember borrowing Jakes "95" ecu while I sent mine in for the socket install and he had a 97+ ecu in.
The previous owner got the eprom before he sold it.

I bought it off www.car-part.com from an auto salvage place, I don't know who the previous owner was? Man, this is depressing.
Not all 95's are eproms.
There is an "early build" 95, and you want the ECU listed for that.
Either auto trans or manual trans will work fine.
Later build 95's were not eproms

Why does that look like a Transmission Control Unit instead of an ECU?
Shouldn't there be 4 "banks" of connectors versus two how it looks in the pics?
I'm thinking you got screwed.

1995-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse AT TCU TCM Computer MD756600.
That is not an ECU or an EPROM.
Sorry.

I asked them to check the vin# and it came out that the car that is off of is a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI, the front wheel drive turbo. So this is a transmission control unit, not an ECU? When I call them up what should I say? "You pulled out the wrong computer?" This is messed up!

I am so glad I am on rmdsm.org LOL! I called them up and he said, "Well looks like you are right it is not the ECU it's the TCU. I guess my guy pulled out the wrong one." So hopefully the correct ecu they send me will be the Eprom. But I am still going to ask if there is a letter E on the bottom right side of the sticker. Thanks for the help everyone.
