Hey 2 quick questions for you guys... 1... I need to know the size of that stupid nut that holds the front CV axel into the knuckle housing... the one dead center of your wheel....

and 2....
Do you know the stats on the shocks that go on our cars by chance? I need to know some exact lengths and diameters to have custom Penske's made...

Answer to question 1: Possibly a 27mm. Not sure since I havn't broken one apart in a loooooong time.

Answer to question 2: Why bother? Just get some tokiko's.

Uhm, no offense to the tokiko people but they're crap for roadrace... I need a 3 way adjustable and more than 5 clicks of rebound and compression adjustments, w/ spherical mounts...

Yeah, his list is pretty rediculous. Ive got a pretty good list thats about $5-6k of mods that im gonna get when i get back from my deployment, but its nothing like his..

Most is already sitting in my living room, some are going through changes...

I just used a 6 point 1.25 socket on a half inch drive air gun, it fit very well and it came off fine, and it was badly rusted

Huh? I'm not sure I followed that but the dimensions I was needing are the stroke length, the cylender diameter, the shock length (eye to eye) and like 2 other lengths...

Why not just get the JIC's?

I had considered them, but they aren't really enough. Because I not only want to drive this on the street, but also at the track, I want full 3 way adjustables. Not cracking on the JIC's because they are top notch stuff, but since the Penske's give me high speed and low speed compression dampening (something you'd only really want in ralley or if you drive with a stiff suspension on the roads in colorado :)) I definately want to go with them. Not to mention that they already have a spherical upper mount designed for these. I did however write JIC to see if they could make me new tubular control arms instead of our factory stamped channel iron ones.

I'm confused? Mike's JIC's are 16 way compression/rebound adjustable. Isn't that what you want?

They are 2 way adjustable 1 for compression 1 for rebound... meaning they have 16 adjustable levels for each. The 8760 series Penske's have 33 rebound adjustments, 33 low speed compression adjustments and 33 high speed compression adjustments. Just based on the fact that they are more tuneable makes them "better" but the high/low speed adjustments are awesome. For low speed you can go real stiff to plant the tires for uneven pavement because when the tire travels upwards due to odd pavement levels the tire doesn't move very fast, and for high speed adjustments you can soften it up a good deal so that if you were to hit say, a pot hole or speed bump it will cusion the blow instead of jarring the piss out of you... I believe they are the only ones of their kind right now. I can buy them @ 1100 a corner +150 for the spherical upper mounts right now, but.... my roommate works for Penske and he gets a discount, only problem is that from penske shocks division, they don't make models that go into cars per se... they are custom orderable, you choose all the dimensions of the shock, including cyl diam, shaft length, eyelet diam, resevior diam and type, etc, etc, etc.... if I can get all the dimensions (which the people that sell them for our cars wouldn't give me) then I can get them at less than HALF of that 1100.

I finally found the perfect suspension. Moris makes some killer Shock/coilover combo's. Check it out and lemme know what you think...

http://www.morissdampers.com

It comes with a fully customized to my needs system, front/rear with spherical uppers, custom plates and mounting fixtures to help with camber adjustments. Eibach "race springs" Etc...etc... here is the list:

2G DSM CS Spec.
18DBLCAN (RACE/RALLY)
Custom gas racing shocks, rebound / bump ind.
adjustable. 18mm dia. Rod. Adjustable ride height.
For 2.25" ID race spring with remote aluminum canisters.
"Cup" to spherical bearing "eye" type front; 20mm ID spherical bearing "eye" to "eye" type rear.
Anodized Aluminum body.

18EYE
Anodized Aluminum bearing eyelet / yoke
1/2" ID TFE lined spherical bearing

Anodized Aluminum upper mounting plates
Metric fasteners.

Eibach ERS race spring
0900.225.0950 (950lbs/in rate)
0900.225.0450 (450lbs/in rate)

Apparently he misunderstood me. He gave me Rally racing spring rates. I will have to explain to him that I will be ROAD racing. a 950/450 combo would ride like a freakin caddy LoL... but besides that it's a killer deal. For everything comparable to the penske's I save a total of $1500.

Oh and since they are custom, they'll be able to invert them for me!

You're tellin me. HUGE savings. For the comparable Penske system I'd pay $1250 for the shocks a piece and then $350 for the CO's... so $5350 total... What is that like 1800 bux I'm saving... hell yeah! And they'll make inverted mounts for me at no additional charge. And if I want to drive out there they said they'd install and adjust the system for me for the cost. Not too damn shabby if I do say so myself.
