Just wondering where the best price, that you guys have found, for HKS 272/272 cams is. I have found them for 575 a set and I think that is the best, unless I get them through a friend... then he can get them for like 570 a set...

Tell him I sent you.

Personally I'd go with webs but that's just me, I like HKS and all but the stats on their 272/272's don't really look good to me...imho

I'd rate the cams:

HKS 272
Crower 414
Web

This is based on some dyno tests I know about as well as my own personal experience.

I suppose I'm more into the webs because of the price to get custom grinds, which I'll have to go with, HK$ is almost impossible to get them to make something for you custom, and Crower will cost me like $200 more than the Webs... I suppose it all comes down to what boost you're running, and how good you need to flow on either side... remember going too far and you'll have idle problems, especially if you run a VPC (the loss of vacuum messes with them)

Interestingly enough,

Lots of people are now running the 272's on both banks and the vpc without too much hassle it seems.
I even hear they idle ok as well. Up here might be a different story on the idle vac situation though...

I don't think the 272's have a lot of overlap, contrary to popular belief. Lots of overlap on a turbo'd car would be very bad.

Roadrace was complaining about a VPC vac problem but it was with 274 exhaust cam not a 272... Personally I think I'm going with the 276/274 grind if I don't end up doing a custom... I need to move a lot of air :(

I've heard that the Web cams wear very quickly as oppossed to the HKS units,is this true?

I went through THREE intake cams, all were replaced under warranty... the last time I sold off the replacement and bought crowers. No problems since.

You decide.

Hal, were they just rounding out? I assume that you use double springs also... I haven't picked up my cams yet. I'm waiting until we can yank the engine in 2 weeks so I can send the tranny and head off for work before I want to stick the new cams etc etc etc on the head... if the Web's just round out I may go with crower instead... I'm just not a big fan of HK$'s stuff some days....
