I have a 92 GSX. I just bought it. I have been trying to do all the preventative maintainence I can think of on it. I noticed the first day I drove it that the electric cooling fan on the turbo side of the engine bay does not kick on. I thought it might be a worn out fan but I got a different one from the junkyard and still no go. I have no idea what the problem could be because the other fan runs and the second it turns off the fan in front of the turbo turns on for a fraction of a second and then shuts down. I checked the fan relay it is still working. If anyone can help me with this fan problem I would appreciate it.

That fan is mainly for the A/C. When you switch on the A/C, both fans will turn on. Only the passenger side fan will kick on during normal engine temps. Your fans are working properly. You can wire them so both fans come on, but it's not needed.

Yeah, I didnt know that fan only turned on for a/c. But I would like both to assist in my cooling. How do I wire it so both fans come on as the one does currently. Can I just wire it in to the same power as the one fan that does run normally?

I plan on doing that mod sometime as I don't have my AC hooked up anymore but even with just one fan I've had zero cooling problems even during stop&go traffic in this recent heat wave.

I have a 180 degree thermostat,70/30 water/antifreeze mixture and a bottle of WaterWetter and my temps rarely go above 190.

Yeah, I have only had my GSX for four days now but it has been really hot out recently in the springs and I have not had any cooling problems either. But I would just like to know how to wire in the drivers side fan to kick on with the passengers so that it will cool down my headers and turbo better so that they dont glow red orange for as long after I have been driving hard.

the turbo and mani will always glow red, and the stocker fan will not push enough air to even slightly cool it down.

to wire them both up check the vfaq

the link for 1g fan rewire at vfaq.com doesnt work.

DOH!

heres an easy way. splice the wires off the a/c fan into the main fan.

i asked that earlier, i just didnt know if the circuit could handle the extra fan. i can splice them easily and if it is not going to affect anything then i will do it. like i said, i just didnt know if both on the same circuit would work.
