I just installed a 2g MAS earlier today and started the car, it is bogging some and running REALLY rich (.96-.98v)

Obviously one would assume I forgot to plug it in, well that isn't that case. I wired it correctly as well.

So, does this mean all the money I spent on the 2g MAS was a waste and it is dead?

I basically got the 2g MAF and half of the original plug, so I soldered in a junkyard 1g plug so it clicked in directly to the car.

Now it runs horribly, and the guy tailgating me because I wasn't going very fast started to smell my fumes when I would give it some gas and blankets of pig rich smoke would shoot at him :)

but yea, any ideas? How would I go about checking to see if the MAF is dead?

BTW my check engine light is on

what karmen does the mas show? (you check this with a datalogger) I have never done the 2g mas conversion befor, but my quess would be that you have a few tuning issues to resolve, but i might be a bit wrong on that effect.

I know it is not a tuning issue, seeing that whenever I would adjust the settings it did nothing - the 02 volts stayed around .98 no matter what the throttle position.

I'm just wondering if I messed up the wiring(is this a symptom of that?) or if this means the MAF is dead.

Something is not connected correctly or the MAS is dead. I'll bet that CEL is for the MAS.
It's now running in an extremely rich fail safe mode, I've been there and done that. It sucks big time, but the good news is that you can't blow the engine up now, hehe.

Recheck the connections first, then check them again.

If you need another 2G MAS that works right, I got one that I'll ship to you for $70 shipped.

Vern, I will let you know if I need to take you up on that in about a week.

As of right now, the guy is sending me another one and I'm sending the bad one back.

I'm just glad this guy is actually keeping a good repuation :), unlike the exhaust system and the injectors I wasted my money on :(
