Does the suspension on AWD make a difference on launching?

Yes, it does. Most dragsters will do stiff springs/shocks in the rear and very light suspension in the front...so the car doesn't rock back and have the exhaust slam the ground...so you don't waste precious 10ths of a second with useless weight transfer...

And the light (not stiff) suspension in the front is so those wheels can get as much traction as possible.

Although your basic koni adjustable or tokico adjustables will be the best you should spend money on for a drag car. It's not like your top drag competitors like Shep are spending thousands on Morris or Penske...

Actually, if its a 1g drag car, be cheap and do your AGXs and spend the rest of your money elsewhere =)

I run KYB AGX's on my car with Eibach pro kit springs. Works really well.

1.7-1.8s all the time with my Eibach/KYB GR2 setup and the GR2s are only $178 a set thru TireRack.

Yep, you don't need anything fancy for drag racing :) Just something semi-adjustable and some good driving skills :)

Just so you know the GR2s are the stock shocks.

Yeah, just a tad stiffer than stock but that's why they only cost around $40 a piece. I wanted AGXs but I've been hearing of problems on hard driven cars after a couple of years with them blowing out. I'd rather spend a couple more hundred on a set of Konis or Bilstien which is now offering a set for 1st gens.
