Look into getting a stalled torque converter... also... your basic mod list should go...
1. Fuel mods (pump, injectors, management)
2. Gauges (Boost, egt, etc)
3. Exhaust
4. Air mods (air management like VPC etc... and turbo upgrades, FMIC's etc...)
5. Engine mods (forged internals, cams, etc...)
There are many reasons to deviate from this order but that is a basic approach to it. Give us an idea of where you want to go with the car and we'll give you suggests, but keep in mind they're suggestions. Take everything with a grain of salt and RESEARCH your own upgrade path.

get a boost controller and boost gauge, you'll notice a differance right away.
intake, exhaust, fuel pump, Upper intercoler piping, clutch, bigger turbo, injectors, FMIC...
everyones path varies.. it just depends what your budjet is.
and remember to mod your car based upon future mods you want to do.

Yeah he will notice a different right away but it will benifit him to get the monitors in place first.

Your question has been answered many times before. In fact there's quite a few FAQs out there on it. To see an excellent upgrade path and a place to order all your parts, visit www.roadraceengineering.com. If they don't have it, well there's always a million other DSM vendors....but they've always been my favorite =)

Check DSMTalk for info on the torque converters. Also the injectors won't do much good without something to manage them.
