alright here's my question. i need to upgrade but i don't want to deal with an AFPR. so here is what i'm looking at:
190 high pressure
255 low pressure
255 high pressure
i would go with the 255 HP but i have heard that you need an AFPR. what do you guys think? oh ya i'm running a 16g. and i have a 2g. anyone who has a 255 HP in our area without an AFPR, how's it work out for ya?

sooooo, i just did some research and found some interesting stuff i havn't seen before. according to this: http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/html/fuelpump.html
the walbro 190 only flows 155lph at 40 psi.!!! it flows 190lph at 0 psi. the 255lph flows 255lph at 40 psi. and 285lph. at 0 psi......
RRE says that a stock pump rewire will flow 140lph at 43psi. so i guess i have sortof answered my own question:rolleyes: but i still want to know. 255hp or 255lp (if i can find it)?
by the way. the 255HP and LP both flow the same untill about 70-80psi. where the LP drops off substansially. will i ever get that high???

get the HP, you will overrun your FPR with either eventually, causing your fuel trims to get a little bit wacky but it's not a horrid problem until you start tuning heavy at which point you'll probably get an AFPR. Mandy runs a 255hp w/ stock FPR fine (though she has wacky fuel trims and I think it's because of it) and Seth also runs the same setup. Both cars run fine.

yup, I put in my 255hp not too long ago, and it runs fine :) ... it does run a little rich at idle, but that's alright

so i went ahead and got a pump. my decision will probably seem fukt to some of you but i have my reasons. i went with a 190lph LOW pressure....why you ask? well. it will flow plenty for my 16g and even if i upgrade to a larger turbo, i can do new lines from my filter to the rail and rewire it for more flow. i got the low pressure because of this: it flows the same untill about 80psi. now if you have 43.6 base FP and are running 30PSI(!!!) you still are only at 73.6psi....i surely will not need anything close to that. i chose the 190 over the 255 because up where i live (9500') i would be PIG RICH untill i got an AFPR and AFC. people with 150lph denso's are running in the 12's at sea level....i should have no problem making power on the 190 up at 6000' (bandi.) or 9500' (my house). so any reponses???? think i'm crazy???

go into the fuel section and click on the carts for the flows of all the pumps.
that was my deciding factor in doing a 255 HP. im on a stock fpr, car runs fine, just rich, which of course is better than lean.

I'm running the 190 rewired with a 50 trim and 550's.....it has been plenty so far!
