well, which of these 5 way adjustable gas shocks is better?

and, what is the best set of springs to put with it?

most people say tokico illuminas/eibach pro kit for 2g's. the autocrossers on dsm talk seem to say illuminas/ ground control coilovers are a good basic setup. imo, if you want the adjustability, illuminas/GC.......... if you don't, illuminas/eibach. it's about $200 more for GC's over pro-kits (not sure if that matters).

All good advice. Although as far as the cheap setups go (toki vs kyb) I would actually suggest the Toki's also, since the KYB's have too much travel for the strut setup on a 2G even though they're better. The Ground Control coilovers are very sweet, make sure you get the right spring rate. Keep in mind what you'll be doing with the car... there is no reason to spend money you don't have to. If you're just going to drag race and daily drive the car don't buy coilovers if you don't have to, they're awesome but a waste of money IMHO if you just are going to drag race. Check out my suspension review info on here for more info :)

i'd also agree with the tokis for cheapest setup. but if you have alittle more money, you can get konis for $450ish from shox.com. they are more superior than the tokicos. sorry, i'm just a firm believer koni is the best shock for any 2g, regardless of the type of driving you'll be doing.

what are your plans for the car? if we knew that we could give you a better starting point for what to buy as far as springs go, so you dont have to spend money twice to get the setup you want.

GC are a great option. i think the koni/gc setup is just as good as tein or jic-majic coil-overs. the only problem lies in the movment you get when you turn the wheel. but i know RRE and Moriss both make upper mounting hats for 2gs. (i still need to get some). i'm just not sure eibach pro-kits will have enough spring rate even for drag applications. but you can order specific spring rates from eibach.

I have KYB AGX's and Eibach pro-kits on my car and they suck as a combo. The "soft" springs and harsh shock valving do not match up well, but they are cheap, which is why alot of people have them. Hell, mine were free which is the only reason I have them at all.
I'm getting some new Koni yellows and GCs on a trade. They should be here next week.
I've talked to quite a few dsm'rs very knowledgeable in suspension and all of them have recommended the Koni yellows and the GC or DSS coil-overs as the best set-up for the money spent.

I'd have to dissagree about them being the best for ANY type of driving. They're a good all around general type setup for cheap but when you start reviewing the need for a GOOD suspension and spending the money for it you have the middle class contenders such as JIC which are MUCH better and then the really really good setups such as Morris or Penske. The only difference is that the costs double every time you jump a shock class :)

well, as of right now, i am planning on drag racing mainly.

i forgot to add the konis in there, but as i see they are pretty good as well. as for springs, theses ground control coilovers seem to be getting alotta love from you guys.

ok, well with that i wanna drag race mainly, and its fwd, in mind, now whats the consensus?

if i was fwd and drag racing only, i would go with eibach/tokico. i think they make a "drag launch" spring......

I have KYB AGX's on my car with Eibach pro kits. All I gotta say is they are better than blown struts and 13 year old springs.
