Off the Evo boards:
------
I just got confirmation from Norwalk Raceway Park, we have a date already for the 12th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout!
Mark your calendars, plan your vacations, you don't want to miss out on this!
August 15th, 2004.
The DSM Shootout is something I started over 11 years ago just out of love for the DSM's. It started out with 8 guys getting together and we had our own staging lane for a night of grudge racing. The next year we had the same thing, one lane just for the DSM's at the track, 16 cars. The next year it grew to 48 cars. From then we had to do an actual track rental, it was getting to big. We use to rent the track on Fridays during the day, then it got to big for that too. For the last two years it has been so large we had to do a Sunday rental. The Shootout is just a great time. People who have come for years just can't wait for the next year. They plan their entire family vacation around it.
This year, 11th Annual 2003, we invited the EVO's to come out. This was basically a last minute thing and to my surprise we had over 20 EVO's there. Really nice to see some new blood.
My plans for this year are to offer two seperate classes for the
EVO's. One will be for anyone who is still running the stock turbo
the other for guys that have upgraded. There are also bracket classes for guys that don't want to run heads-up.
Keep this in mind it truly is a great time. Al was there for the
first time and the enthusiasm he had was almost overwhelming, I think that is why I like the guy so much!
Any comments, questions or words of wisdom are more than welcome. Please ask or comment here so we can keep this close to the top for all to see.
Thanks a lot.

My job status in July will tell me if I'm going or not. If I have the funds I just might go.

The same day as the newly rescheduled CART/Denver race. You guys will be out racing, and i'll be standing in a cage waving flags at open wheel guys.

For the 1G? You got a deal!
(the 200k mile, bone stock, 190hp honda killa!)
Bwhahahahahahahahaa!
It has been 3 feet in the air! The landing cost me 7 helicoils due the manifold RIPPING from the head.

My god man! I had mine pretty high in the air the night before we tore it appart. Didn't cause any apparent damage, but the next day driving it before we pulled the engine there was a BAD engine vibration at idle :)

You know the nice smooth speed bumps on 55th Ave in Boulder? Yeah, those and 70 mph. :p

LMAO! The ones down by pearl street? Those are pretty damn big speed bumps/ramps ;)
I did mine through Mandy's neighborhood in the springs, huge dips at an angle at about 55 or so. Oops

Ya know Erron, this project is almost done... I've been thinking of putting together a rally car for maybe some entry level SCCA stuff... Maybe an old school Evo I II or III. Maybe I should do that and we can go find some real REAL big bumps :)

Oooh, Oooh!!! (waving hand frantically) Can I be one to stomp them? I have plans to go if I can find someone who's willing to finance the fuel costs of my fathers truck to pull a 32' box trailer with two dsm's inside :D . Damn supercharged 454. Seriously though, I have plans to go, just have to start scraping cash together and get the car running flawlessly.

I'll set you up for a ride in Ron's EVO 7. He has won group N in the SCCA Rally something like 2 times and driver of the year, etc....
He will scare the b-jesus outta anyone. I've had to respectfully decline the offer to be navagator for a few events. Something about a pendulum-ing car at 120 on icy roads with 3 foot thick trees that just makes me nervous.

Dave-
We should see if getting a 3 or 4 car trailer would be possible.

I have a UN license... it would suffice... and I've driven one. It's a pain :) but hey, we can try it... did someone say I can drift?
Mirage
12-21-2003, 11:20 PM
Not with my car on there you're not drifting... :p . Can you imagine having ten highly modded DSM's on one truck going to one place? Geeze. Better hire a security guard for the nights at the motels and such...
The train would probably work too. Just don't know how long it would take them to get our cars out to Ohio. And if it's Amtrack... I'd rather take my chances driving :D .
