    Stock Bottom end....

Anyone want to see how far you can take a stock bottom end?

I will be piecing together an engine for this upcoming race and will be using a stock bottom end with removed balance shafts. My ported head and everything will be installed onto this block and run hard.

I'll probably limit it to 30 psi. Unless of course everything looks good with no knock. Then I may try to see what it'll hold. Maybe not though. It will be trailered up in normal fashion only because I know I won't trust my clutch foot yet.

Oil the track down, and I will take your turbo as punishment.

Hea, that's why I put the galant together. I will be dynoing it and racing it to see what a bone stock, 100% solid car can do. Well stock with a front mount, but none the less, its is 100% stock otherwise. Minus balance shaft and oil squirters, but no other tricks.

Is that a problem? That'll just give me another hour to drop in another engine if I can get one together by then.

The bottom end of my 4g61 is still completely stock, and I'm planning on running 30 psi and 400 hp uncorrected. I recently replaced the rings and bearings with OEM parts but the rest has over 150K on it. It helps that they don't have balance shafts and short stroke motors have been proven to take ton's of abuse. Just don't knock and it should make it through the day. Which pistons are you going to use? 1G or 2G.

Other than removed balance shafts, this is an early '92 bone stock 6-bolt bottom end. 1g rods, 1g pistons, at least 150k miles on the thing...

Oh the things Marcus will do while waiting on pistons...

Funny I'd say the same thing about me, especially since the rumor is I'm on my third engine, but ironically my origional is running fine.

It pays to have a massive amount of parts laying around...

The total cost of installing this engine with a new headgasket (composite), fluids and everything else will probably end up being right around $80.

Not you in particular. If anyone made me miss my car the most, it was that run between the RX-7 and the Camaro (?) a few nights ago.

    I know I'm faster than the RX-7...
