    Need axle help please

I am not able to get the driver side axle to seat all the way in. I have done this a couple times before with no problem. Marcus suggested I take the circlip off to see if the axle will seat all the way. I did and it does.
He also suggested I try the old circlip. I did and it still will not seat.

I'm trying to get this together so I can make RIPP (PPIR in reverse...CW) with NASA this weekend...hoping to leave Fri.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Fred

  2. I've had that a few times, I just had to hit it harder to get the circlip to go in. Not much help, but it worked for me!

The only way I was able to hit it was to put the nut on backwards to give me greater surface area to hit with a dead blow hammer. Having to compress the CV joints by pushing in with one hand and then swing the dead blow is...difficult.

  4. As bad as it sounds, I would pull the CV boot to max stretch and ram that sucker back toward the tranny.

Yeh, that does sound bad, but I'll give it a try in the a.m.
    Thanks, Erron.

Fred, have you looked at the c-clips for any damage or disfigurement?

This won't make a bit of sense, but one time I had the same problem you are having. I pulled the axle back out, rotated it (half a turn) and it slid back in like normal. Typically, all I have to do is hit it with a dead blow.

A lot of prayer, some more twisting and some more pushing and that sucker finally went in.
Thank you everyone...each bit of advice helped.
